Wisdom Is Misery

About a month ago I was talking to the woman behind ReinaSong.com. As of the date of this posting this website no longer exists, all that is left is remnants of formerly active links on Google, but I took the liberty of grabbing a screenshot. I talked to this woman for about four months or so. It was a pretty good experience. She’s intelligent and I thought beautiful – the latter of whom I’m not sure of anymore, because I later found out that the pictures used on ReinaSong.com are those of another Internet model.

I remember the exact time and place a girl first called me ugly. It was High School summer break. I was at the pool with some friends and let me preface this next sentence with the following clause: I was at the peak of my assholeness.

A ferociously unattractive woman swam across the pool towards me as I sat in a lounge chair. As she got closer, I could see in her eyes this clearly wasn’t going to end well. I had hoped she would approach one of my less fortunate friends but she walked right up to me and asked my name. I told her. She then asked if I had a girlfriend. I said no. She then asked me for my number. I said no. She then asked me why not and I responded rather nonchalantly, “Because you’re ugly.”

Picture has little to do with the blog BUT it made me laugh:

Culturally speaking, I don’t know what dominates the conversations of other races, but as a black man it is rare for me to go more than a week without hearing, seeing, or reading some kind of comment or opinion on interracial dating. Sometimes directed right at me. I consider this to be one of the least important topics on Earth, but it seems that people are endlessly fascinated with it.

I’m working on a trilogy of blogs that are so controversial, so divisive, so ignorantly ignorant that they may very well get me banned from the blogging community, the Internet and society at large. In preparing for the possible implications of these blogs I decided to post something more lighthearted today. The Cruel Intentions Swindle!!!
