I’ve argued with more than my fair share of people about this subject but in some regard isn’t the allowance (and possibly acceptance) of interracial dating in itself an example of progress? For example, in this country we went from a point where it was literally illegal for a black man to date (or in some cases look at) a white woman. It seems strange that some people would only long for racial equality when it benefits them or sounds good in theory, but not in practice. I started writing this series of blogs because of the uproar over Bengals wide receiver Chad Johnson aka Ocho Cinco. Too much ink has been dedicated to the specifics, so if you’re not privy to what happened then I suggest you Google some combination of words that includes “Chad Ochocinco” and “white women.” That specific discussion has died down but the conversation about black men dating white women never really dies, it just goes away for a while until the next public reconstruct.
